Change the Air Conditioner Filter in a Saturn Ion
June 19, 2013
Change the Air Conditioner Filter in a Saturn Ion - Open the glove compartment in your Saturn Ion. Remove any contents and set them aside.Squeeze in on both sides of the glove compartment with your hands. This action will release the door stops from their tracks, and the glove compartment door will swing down.
Reach into the glove compartment cavity and open the rear door by unlatching it. This is the cabin air filter housing.
Slide the cabin air filter out of the housing by hand. Hold it steady as you move it toward you to avoid shaking dust out into your car. Dispose of the filter.
Push the new filter into the housing where the old one was installed (with the airflow indicator arrows pointing downward).
The Saturn Ion, an compact car produced by Saturn from 2003 to 2007, features a cabin air filter on its higher-performance Red Line models. Other Ion models may also use this filter, which purifies the ambient air inside the car. Replacing the cabin air filter is essentially as simple as pulling it out from behind your glove box. The filter is housed within the air conditioning unit below your dashboard, which is one reason it's commonly called an air conditioner filter. Change the filter in your Saturn Ion every year, or whenever you notice the air inside the car seems stale or has a mildewy odor. - by eHow
