How Do I Winterize a Marine Air Conditioner? - Close the seacock that is attached to the intake hose. Detach the intake hose from the seacock. Leave the intake hose attached to the air conditioning unit.Open the sea strainer. Wipe the strainer with a damp towel to remove any buildup. If the strainer still contains buildup, set it in a large bucket of warm, soapy water. Allow the strainer to soak for about one hour and dry it with a clean, lint-free towel. Replace the strainer.
Press the power switch on the air conditioning unit to turn it on. Pour anti-freeze into the water-intake hose that you previously detached from the seacock. Pour anti-freeze according to the guidelines on the back of the bottle. Typically this is a medium amount of anti-freeze.
Hold the hose so that it is perpendicular to the ground. Allow the anti-freeze to circulate through the air conditioning system for about 10 minutes. You should see some anti-freeze leak through the thru-hull.
Press the power switch to turn off the air conditioning unit.
